Vocational education and training (VET) is considered to be of crucial importance for the successful integration of young refugees. So far, there has been little research on refugees’ vocational aspirations. Therefore, based on secondary data from the Refugees in the German Educational System (ReGES) study (n=1,943) the aim of our study is to examine the vocational cost-benefit considerations of young refugees who migrated to Germany between 2014 and 2017 as well as factors influencing their considerations. The analyses also point to systematic differences in young refugees’ vocational aspirations and at the same time offer important starting points for their vocational orientation.
