How do various factors influence young refugees‘ access to vocational education and training in Germany, Austria and Switzerland?

Vocational education and training is considered to be crucial for the successful professional integration of young refugees. However, it should be noted that a wide range of factors, such as legal, economic and personal aspects, influence the chances of accessing and participating in vocational education and training. Findings from Germany, Austria and Switzerland show that these countries are adopting different routes to support the integration of refugees despite commonalities in the structure of their VET systems. The article mainly focuses on the phases of preparation for and access to VET.
