This systematic review provides an overview of the state of research on evaluated professionalization programs, such as workshops or seminars, for (pre-service) teachers in Germany in the context of a migration society. An analysis of 27 empirical studies from 2015-2022 was conducted and evaluated in terms of target group, content and target competencies, and intervention design. The results indicate a clear majority of interventions for pre-service teachers, with only a few addressing in-service teachers. Most professionalization interventions focused on dealing with cultural heterogeneity. Despite heterogeneous intervention and evaluation designs, the findings point to the effectiveness of the interventions in terms of knowledge and self-efficacy expectations, as well as attitudes in some cases. The combination of theory, practice and reflections phases as a relevant design element for effective interventions was realized in the majority of the studies. The results are discussed with regard to the international state of research and practical implications.
