Content:
We only accept theses within our area of expertise, namely vocational education and training (see thematic areas) (opens in new tab) .
We are pleased to assist students in aligning their thesis with one of our research projects and addressing their own research questions within this framework.
Request for supervision:
Please send your request via Mail at least 4 weeks prior to intended submission of the thesis. The request should include the following information:
1. A brief description of the thematic focus you have chosen
2. The rough research question or hypothesis you would like to investigate in your theses
3. Ideas for structuring the thesis
4. 5 key references
5. Desired period of work, at least specifying the month (e.g., not ''in spring'')
It is not necessary to provide a precise or finalised research question at this stage; a draft will suffice. Nevertheless, it is crucial that you dedicate time to reflecting on and articulating the above mentioned points, as otherwise it is challenging for us to ascertain whether we are able to provide content and enough supervision for your thesis.
Only requests that include aforementioned information will be processed. Should supervision not be possible, this will be duly noted and alternative supervisors may be recommended.
Procedure of the supervision
Theses are individually supervised and, where possible linked to existing research projects. Accordingly, the procedure should be understood as a framework that can be adapted to meet the needs of the student.
1. Request for supervision (see above); if accepted, agreement of consultation date
2. Consultation 1: Refinement of the research question, discussion of the outline and the literature review, advice on the secondary supervision
3. Consultation 2: Feedback on the exposé, clarification of any open questions
In general, two in-depth consultations (more for empirical work) are planned and sufficient. If any problems or questions arise, we are of course available at any time during the process, and issues can be clarified by email with additional consultations appointments if necessary.
