In our research and teaching, we address social, didactic, personal and structural questions concerning vocational education and training.
We understand vocational education and training (VET) both as processes developing vocational beliefs, interests, goals and as processes and measures to acquire competencies for securing one’s livelihood and way of life in addition to learning how acquiring vocational competencies is organised and structured as a whole. We understand the term profession in the broadest sense and understand it as a construct or concept, i.e., a complex idea
a) that is mirroring the relationship of individuals to “their” profession
b) in which the organisation of society and the cultural concept of work are reflected.
We understand the term profession as an informative term used to pair systems of training and professional life while providing orientation for customised training processes.
