Intro

The Department of Education in the Context of Digitality was founded in 2022. At the centre of the research area is the general pedagogical question of educational processes in the face of a world shaped by digital infrastructures.

You can find information about the team here.

The research and teaching of the department focuses in particular on questions along the guiding premise of a more sustainable development of our society from the three central perspectives – ecological, economic and social. The fields of research are therefore:

  • the ecological implications of digitality, the question of understanding nature with the help of (digital) technologies and the resulting educational challenges.
  • in the discussion of educational and subjectivisation processes along existing digital-capitalist structures.
  • in the examination of social disadvantage as well as (digital) participation and inclusion in different educational contexts in local and global terms.

These topics are being investigated in national and international research projects .

To the extent that didactic concepts for teaching these topics are also discussed and developed in some of the research projects, research and teaching are closely intertwined. The research results are thus channel led into teaching.

In this respect, the research area partly follows on from the work of Prof. Dr. Peter Euler (retired, former chairholder).
